King David's 3048 Birthday Celebration. June 4- June 8, 2008
Hundreds of people, including dignitaries and members of the media, visit the King David Museum on a daily basis during the first week of June to participate in an amazing celebration marking the Greatest King of Israel's birthday, which falls out each year on the Jewish holiday of Shavuot. Regal colored balloons, and streamers, complimentary refreshments of cheese danish and sparkling grape juice and lollypops for the kids are all part of the festivities- accompanied, of course, by the well-known musical rendition of "David Melech Yisroel Chai V'Kayam - David, the King of Israel, is Alive for Eternity!" Participants are being asked to purchase a letter (s) in the first-ever King David Torah Scroll for only $18 per letter. What more perfect a way to pay tribute to King David and immortalize your name for eternnity? The celebration is sponsored by The King David Museum, which is located in the Old City of Jerusalem.
